ABOUT ME

My artistic journey began with water. During my thesis at OCAD University, I explored large, gestural canvases inspired by the shifting light on water’s surface. I was—and still am—fascinated by the way light reflects off water, pulling us into quiet moments of self-reflection as we become mesmerized by its movement and depth.

After graduating, I traveled through Europe and found that same light bouncing off city windows, spilling through gardens, and glinting across quiet corners. These experiences expanded my practice—what began as a fascination with water grew into a broader exploration of how light transforms everyday spaces.

Painting is my sanctuary. It’s where I breathe life into landscapes, architecture, and daily moments, blending realism with abstraction. My process is intuitive and layered: each painting begins with a wash of magenta, grounding the work with warmth and energy before I begin building colour. The hues I mix by hand come from photo references I’ve taken along the way—images from my travels, daily walks, and fleeting moments. But I never replicate them exactly. I choose the tones I want to see, allowing emotion and memory to shape the palette.

One of my ongoing series, Peaks of Peace, captures the stillness of overlooked spaces. Inspired by both travel and the everyday, these works bring vibrancy to quiet corners through subtle tints, layered shadows, and unexpected colour. They’re meditations on beauty that often goes unnoticed.

Nature, architecture, and simplicity continue to inspire me. My exploration of water remains a constant thread, offering both peace of mind and a lens through which I connect with the world’s colours. Through this, I aim to create reflective, open spaces in my work—moments of calm that invite viewers to pause, look closer, and shift their perspective.
